Hubert Murton was born in Burnley in 1896. In civilian life he was a Weaver in a Cotton Mill. 
 
Murton first served with the East Lancashire Regiment with service number 5448, landing in France on the 2nd June 1915. He was transferred to the 2nd Bn Manchester and awarded the Military Medal. The award was announced in the London Gazette on the 14th of May 1919, and he was discharged in October.
 
Hubert passed away in 1959.
