William Emery attested age eighteen on 15^th November 1901, he stated he had the previous service with 3^rd Bedford Regt Militia.

He transferred to the reserves on 2^nd August 1913, and when war broke out was mobilised on 5^th August 1914.

To France & Flanders 12^th November 1914, he was subsequently transferred to the Labour Corps. Emery was discharged on 31^st March 1920 after over eighteen years’ service.
