Walter Albert Young was born in 1892 in Chelsea, London. 
 
Attested on the 21st of October 1915, having previously served nine days with the Royal Engineers. 
 
He served in France from the 23rd of June 1916 until the 14th of October 1916. On the 9th he had been wounded, suffering a GSW to his right leg. 
 
He never served overseas again, seeing out the rest of the war in the Royal Defence Corps before discharge in 1919.
