Indian General Service Medal / Sikkim 1888 to Pte Leverton Notts and Derby Regt

Henry Leverton was born in St Marys, Nottingham, in 1865. He attested at Derby in August 1885 and joined the 2nd Bn Notts & Derby Regt. 

 

Leverton saw active service in the Sikkim expedition in 1888 and was awarded the IGS. 

 

In his first period in the army, he served for 12 years, being discharged in August 1897. He re-enlisted in the reserves in September and was recalled to active service in March 1900 during the Boer War.  

 

He served in South Africa and was also awarded a QSA and KSA.

 

Discharged in 1903, Henry passed away in 1938.
